WOYWW #470

25 weeks ago, I last posted on my blog... nearly half a year without "What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday"
There's always an excuse... and I have a few lined up - but basically, I'm busy (running around in circles!)
So, today I am back for another WOYWW hosted as always by the amazingingly well-travelled Ms Dunnit over at the Stamping Ground.

So... my desk...
I've recently had to have a HUGE tidy in the craft-room, so my desk (and room) are almost tidy now :) The tidying had to be completed as we are waiting for the builders to arrive here, when utter chaos will ensue and all semblance of normal living will be annihilated.
I'm making more boxes for my Etsy store, have just finished a quickie-make of the little curio cabinet, have a little basket with smaller bottles in... and I have had to repair a green-man wall plaque I made recently. My grandbabies decided to try and pick some leaves from him :(
He's quite a jolly looking fellow :)
I've been playing with left-over clay lately too - I decided to 'use it or lose it'... and upcycled some bottles and a jar:

The boxes in the background there are more shop stuff... and the wooden diffuser fills my little room with a lemon scent to keep me going and creating lol
The curio-type cabinet is pretty neat, I thought :)
The vaseline on the desk is not for crafting... it's for my poor wee doggy. I have to oil up his nose regularly throughout the day as he has a nose infection! He has cost us a small fortune in vets bills of late - infected paws, bits up his nose, weepy eye, smelly bottom lol. Still, I guess he's worth it :)

Sadly, other news is not as fun. My 'other mummy' (mum-in-law) has recently been diagnosed with vascular dementia, and we (as a family) are trying to arrange our lives around her needs and care right now. Hopefully, after the builders are finished we can start getting quotes on prices to build an extension so she can come and live with us. It'll be hard and exhausting... but it's what you do for those we love isn't it?!
My poor mum had a cataract operation two weeks ago that went disastrously wrong, and she has been rushed back into hospital for corrective surgery to save her sight.  She's also had to start using hearing aids now too...
As for me... well it's never good news lol - but I'm too busy to worry about myself right now. Maybe next week :D

I do hope everyone has a fantastic Wednesday. I'm looking forward to spending some time catching up with desks and people here.
Have a great week everyone!

Nearly forgot... I am number 23 this week :)

Wow what a fantastic collection of items on your desk; so quirky and unusual. Sorry to hear about your MIL. Mine lived with us for quite some time, but she has a physical disability rather than dementia so an entirely different kettle of fish. Hope your mum's eyes recover. Good luck with the building work. Just came on WOYWW after being for an ECG and spotted your name - thought I had better jump in and see what you have been up to. Oh dear, sorry to hear you have been busy for not so very nice reasons. Hope things with the generation above you improve in some way. Very kind of you to offer you mil a room, not many would.
Good luck with the building work anyway.
Lots of lovely things for us to feast our eyes on so good to see you have been busy. Hope you are back again next week. You have been missed.
Hugs, Neet 8 or thereabouts xx

It;s lovely to see you back Bubbles but I am sorry to hear about the reasons that have kept you away from the desks. Hopefully your mum's eyesight will be improved by the emergency op. Look after yourself as well as the others, it's tricky not to get caught up in everything.
Hugs LLJ 11 xx

Love your Green Man and the little bottles.
Life has a way of interrupting what we want to do; doesn't it. What is even worse is the fact that there are normally a whole host of issues that turn up at the same time which really get in the way.
Hope the building isn't too horrid.

Your poor MIL...hope all is well soon for her. I love your green man and the little mushroom houses! I am back on WOYWW for this first time in nearly four years but not with a blog... I am attempting it via instagram... I don't yet know if it will work!

I was delighted to see you back at WOYWW, but saddened to read why our have been absent. It was wonderful to read you will be taking in your MIL. When my grandparents were alive (they raised me from birth), I dreamed of my grandmother living with me after my grandfather died. Sadly, she went first and he only lived about five months after that. I know you will find the her lucid on certain days and will gain joy from that.

I love your wonderful creations. The clay pieces are great, and useful, too. Happy WOYWW from #2.

Thanks for sharing all of your interesting things in your work space. Sorry to hear about MIL's dementia - my dad and then mum had it - know how difficult it can be. Hazel WOYWW #22 x

Yikes, as we get into being grown ups, we sure do have some tough circles to run around in! I sincerely hope that your dear Mum’s sight is spared, how frightening. As for your MiLaw, poor lady, my Mum has Altsheimer’s and any type of dementia is just ghastly. Happy that the green man could be repaired, kind of your own fault for making the leaves so realistic! Keep finding some time for crafts..it’s good for your well being!
